Your lawn has just been fertilized—great job! At Nutra Green, we know that proper lawn care doesn’t stop with fertilization. What you do after a treatment is just as important for achieving a lush, green yard across Madison, Brandon, and Jackson, MS.

Step 1: Watering In the Fertilizer

The first step after a fertilization treatment is watering. It’s important to apply enough water to move the fertilizer granules into the thatch layer of your lawn—but not so much that it causes runoff. We recommend applying around 1/4 inch of water during this initial soak. This helps the nutrients absorb properly without wasting product or stressing your grass.

Step 2: Time to Mow—But Mow Smart

Once the fertilizer has been watered in, it’s safe to mow. Just remember the rule of thirds: never cut more than 1/3 of the grass blade in a single mow. This protects your lawn’s root system and promotes healthy growth.

Step 3: Resume Your Deep Watering Schedule

With mowing complete, you can return to your regular deep watering routine. Deep, infrequent watering encourages strong root development and keeps your lawn healthy throughout the Mississippi growing season. Need Help With Lawn Care in Madison, Brandon, or Jackson?
